Landron-Chartier
Coteaux d’Ancenis, Loire Valley

Bernard Landron – Landron Chartier

The unique will of Bernard, Francoise and Benoit is to respect and to develop the soils. They implement everything to increase the quality and the delicacy of their wines. The vineyard is at the beginning of Organic Agriculture conversion and are located in the Northwestern Loire on the edge of the “Massif Armoricain”, a very rich and contrasted geology.

Bernard comes from a winegrower family. In 1990, he became a winegrower himself. He started with a 9 hectare vineyard. Little by little, it increases to 19 hectares. In 1999, Bernard began working with his brother, Jo in a 45 hectares vineyard. They opted for organic viticulture. From there, Bernard never looked back. In 2002, Bernard and his wife, Francoise, begin on the Ponceau Castel at Ligne, on a 19 hectares vineyard.

In 2007, their son, Benoit, joined them and in April 2009, they extend their estate with the vineyard of the Clermont Castel. The EARL LANDRON CHARTIER was created, with 45 hectares, it stretches over five villages.

The Ponceau Castel is located on schist. This soil gives the Muscadet a typical finish, an harmonious finish for the Coteaux d’Ancenis. The Clermont Castel vines are planted in gneiss and orthogneiss soils. The wines are fresh, fine and expressive. The soils are vinified one by one. All the vats are stainless and glass fiber vats are thermostated in order to obtain optimal control during vinification and ageing process.
